Shopping for a new mattress can become increasingly difficult when you're unfamiliar with the options available on the market. Not to worry, we've got you covered! We've provided some additional information on some of the most popular mattress types out there!


Memory Foam

Memory foam is a Viscoelastic material that is mostly made out of a substance called polyurethane. Memory foam mattresses are known for their "sinking in" feeling. They slowly form to the users body and cradle them throughout the night. Memory foam can ease joint pain and pressure points. However, memory foam is not a very responsive material. After prolonged use, the mattress will slowly form back into its original position. Users who toss and turn throughout the night may prefer a mattress with more "bounce" may not be satisfied with a memory foam mattress. Different types of memory foam includes memory foam, gel memory foam, infused memory foam.

Latex

Latex mattresses are extremely popular and for good reason. They have many of the same benefits as memory foam mattresses but, they tend to be much more responsive. Latex reacts much faster than memory foam and quickly forms back to it original shape. Latex mattresses are a great option for people who toss and turn throughout the night. Latex mattresses are naturally cool and rarely sleep hot. Natural latex mattresses are extremely durable and may even last between 15-20 years. Keep in mind, that there are several different types of latex mattresses. They include Talalay, Dunlop, and Synthetic Latex Mattresses.

Hybrid:

Hybrid Mattresses are made using a variety of different support systems. They typically include innerspring, latex, memory foam, and gel memory foam layers. These layers provide pressure and joint pain relief while still allowing the mattress to retain its innerspring properties. There are thousands of hybrid mattresses that range in comfort level and price range. Hybrid mattresses can be an extremely affordable and reliable option.

What is an adjustable bed?

An adjustable bed is an electric bed frame that adjusts into a variety of positions. Most adjustable beds include a wireless, back-lit remote which allows you to control the bed. Unlike a hospital bed, they can be used in a standard bedroom setting and they are available in many different sizes. Standard adjustable bed sizes include: Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, Split King (2 x Twin XL), California King, Split California King.

Will my mattress work with an adjustable bed?

Most newer mattresses should be compatible with the adjustable bed. If your mattress is anywhere between 8-10 years or older, you may want to consider buying a new mattress. Most Memory foam, Latex, Inner Spring (Must have inner-pocketed coils), and Air Mattresses should be compatible with an adjustable bed regardless of the brand.

How do I know I am getting a good quality adjustable bed?

Currently there are 3 main adjustable bed manufacturers. They are Leggett & Platt, ErgoMotion, and Reverie. Adjustable bed bases that are made by these companies are high quality and built to last.

There are so many options, how do I choose?

There are many adjustable beds available. Although choosing an adjustable bed may seem daunting, it is easy to narrow down the different options. Adjustable beds are all extremely similar in terms of quality and functionality. Most adjustable beds are made of steel and include an upholstered upper platform. The upper platform supports the mattress and adjusts into different positions. The main difference between most adjustable bed bases are the features included.

Will my adjustable bed fit within my bed frame?


Your adjustable bed should also easily fit within your existing bed frame. Simply remove the slats and place the adjustable bed within the frame. If you have a platform bed frame, then you will need a zero-clearance adjustable bed base. Zero-Clearance adjustable beds can be used without the legs and placed onto an existing platform bed.

Can I change the height of the adjustable bed?


This feature may vary by model. Many adjustable beds will include an adjustable leg kit so that you may adjust the height of the bed. Most adjustable beds will include screw-on/ stackable legs.
